TESTS DESIGNED FOR 5G PILOT
D:TOLÚ achieved measurements over-the-air in the testbed designed for the 5G broadcast pilot using the feMBMs technology authorized by the Ministry of Information Communication Technologies (MinTIC) under resolution 1042 of June 23, 2020. The 3GPP standard-compliant cellular system of the pilot uses the TV channel 33 (584.5-589.5 MHz) with 5MHz of bandwidth and the Radio Access Network (RAN) entities of the OpenAirInteface platform were containerized with Docker. The pilot uses virtualization, commoditization, softwarization, and open-source software to foster innovation of next-generation cellular networks in Colombia. This know-how is shared with Sucre’s Universities to create trained human resources and to solve regional problems. Recently, ID:TOLÚ confirmed cooperation with 5G-MAG, Universidad Politecnica de Valencia, and Javier Morgade to update the feMBMs system from release 14 to release 16 improving synchronization issues and adding new numerologies that allow us to test the system under different static and mobile broadcast scenarios.
The report with measurements of the 5G broadcast pilot was sent to MinTIC with information about the deployment design, hardware, software, and prices, among others.
