IDTOLU has ready its first FeMBMS pilot
FeMBMS corresponds to the technology defined by 3GPP for sending multimedia and data in one direction. With this standard, 5G devices will be able to receive the signal without the need for a return channel to the transmitter for synchronization. Also called 5G NR (New Radio), ID:TOL will test the capabilities of these technologies using open source with COTS running linux Ubuntu and OpenAirInterface. The signal will be transmitted within a 10 km radius in the municipality of Tolú, Colombia, from the tower of a local educational establishment. The bandwidth will be 5 MHz in a standard UHF channel assigned for public service television.
